Development Plans!

Heyo all! So, where do things stand rn, and what are the plans for the future?

Firstly, our plan is to rebuild the entire game in a new engine - RPGmaker MZ. The previous engine, RPGmaker VX Ace, had many many limitations. As time went on, it became increasingly difficult to add new content. Bugs and quirks would emerge from the aether, and due to the structure of the engine, some were impossible to resolve. The new engine allows us to extend and override RPGmaker’s engine itself, so the sky’s the limit!

This also an opportunity to improve other aspects of the game! Croc will be overhauling the art - touching up some sprites and redrawing the others. The core gameplay loop and the game progression will be reworked to create a less frustrating experience overall (we’re still keeping the roguelike aspects tho!). The story is also being rewritten from the ground up! It’ll still feature the core trio of Croc, Crisis, and Tails-Ko, with some returning characters and some fresh faces.

Our immediate goal is to create a ‘demo’ build and get it out to you guys as soon as possible It’ll feature the core trio as playable characters, alongside a handful of enemies to face off against. You’ve already seen one of them - the long-awaited and highly-anticipated Trojan Bot :3 The others will be revealed in the weeks to come!
